Joining us on RegWatch is Dr. Riccardo Polosa the world’s foremost researcher on nicotine vaping and its effects on the lung and respiratory system. Dr. Polosa is a Respiratory Physician, professor, and Director of the Institute for Internal Medicine & Clinical Immunology at the University of Catania, Italy.
Dr. Polosa is an expert in lung disease and over numerous studies, his research provides clinical evidence supporting the health benefits of vaping; not only to reduce harm but in some cases, even reverse the harm caused by smoking.
What does he think about the CDC sponsored smear campaign that falsely implicated nicotine vaping as a cause of the deadly lung-illness? What does science say about the relative harms (and benefits) of vaping on the lung? And, is the damage done to vaping’s reputation permanent?

Back in November when the government of British Columbia announced it would enact new vaping restrictions in order to protect youth, little concern was paid to the tens of thousands of adults in the province who rely on vaping as a tool to quit smoking. In mid-December, the provincial government released details of the changes in what it calls an “Intentions Paper,” which if enacted, would destroy adult access and choice to vaping products in the province.
In this episode of RegWatch we are joined by Stacey White the co-owner of Thunderbird Vapes and ardent defender of vaping rights in B.C. Hear her reaction to how the proposed regulations would classify nicotine as a “Health Hazard,” cap nicotine strength, cap e-liquid containers, cap tank size, ban zero nic e-liquid, and ban most, if not all flavours.
Add on top a 20% sales tax and intentions are clear: the BC NDP-led provincial government aims to crush vaping with a ban, in all but name.
As the deadline for public consultation fast approaches: what could be done to stave off disaster?

One would hope the forces allied against vaping would observe a cessation of hostilities and allow for a peaceful holiday season, but hope is all that it would be. Over the holidays, in a series of surprise meetings and after a quick pass through the regulatory process, the Trump flavored vape ban moved from dormant to a fait accompli.
First to break the news was Paul Blair, Director of Strategic Initiatives for Americans for Tax Reform. Blair held the pulse of the process as the vape ban went from rumour to reality over the course of 10-days.
Joining RegWatch for our first episode of 2020, Blair walks viewers through the details of what happened, how it happened and what will the impact be on the industry?

Monday Dec 30, 2019
Monday Dec 30, 2019
2019 demonstrated in brutal fashion public health’s penchant for orchestrated lying. CDC’s obfuscation and outright deception, regarding the potential cause of the mysterious lung illness, falls nothing short of a national public health scandal, with worldwide impact.
In our final edition of RegWatch for 2019, Guy Bentley director of consumer freedom at the Reason Foundation recaps CDC’s disastrous misjudgment of the lung crisis and the media’s relentless efforts to smear vaping.
Moral panic over vaping runs against reason, find out why!

E257 - MASS MAYHEM | EASTERN U.S. EMBRACES WITCH HUNT | REGWATCH (LIVE)
Thursday Dec 12, 2019
Thursday Dec 12, 2019
It should come as no surprise that Massachusetts, the state which nurtured the most notorious cases of mass hysteria in American history, the Salem Witch Trials, is also the same state currently perfecting the witch hunt against vaping. On Wednesday the Massachusetts Public Health Council made permanent its ban on the sale of flavored vaping products and mandated signs warning consumers of “severe lung disease” to be posted at retail locations where unflavored vaping products might still be sold.
Massachusetts is not alone as public health bureaucrats in the state of New York voted this week to extend its ban on flavored e-cigarettes, even though the ban is currently held up in court.
What’s driving the vape ban mayhem? And how are consumers being affected?
Find out in this episode of RegWatch with Alex Clark CEO of CASAA, the national consumer advocacy organization for smoke-free alternatives.

E255 - PROHIBITION | HOW DRUG WAR TACTICS COULD CRUSH VAPING | REGWATCH (LIVE)
Tuesday Dec 10, 2019
Tuesday Dec 10, 2019
Every attempt to isolate a cause to explain the war on vaping faces its difficulties, as no cause is entirely defective in explanation, yet neither is any satisfyingly sufficient to explain the level of hysteria engulfing the nation. Clues are best found by examining similar phenomenon and terrifyingly, there’s no better example than the decades-long battle in the “War on Drugs.”
In this edition of RegWatch we’re joined by Ethan Nadelmann, founder and former director of the Drug Policy Alliance and member of the advisory board of the Open Society Foundation’s Global Drug Policy Project.
For decades Nadelmann led the fight to end the “War on Drugs,” so he knows all too well the dehumanizing, slanderous, coercive tactics used by moral crusaders. Today he sees those same tactics deployed against vaping; raising his ire and compelling him to join the fight.
What are the similarities between the “War on Drugs” and the “War on Vaping?” And, could the vaping battle be lost?

E254 - JUNK SCIENCE | BOGUS STUDIES SEEK RUIN FOR VAPING | REGWATCH (LIVE)
Friday Dec 06, 2019
Friday Dec 06, 2019
At times it seems like it will never end, the stream of shameful, slanderous, pseudo-scientific research belched from the halls of academia and the darkened corridors of public health. With each new study the same old rehash of claims chips away at the truth, that vaping is a safer alternative to smoking.
Thankfully a small cadre of scientists have dedicated careers to debunking bogus studies and one of the most prolific and well-known of these scientists is Dr. Konstantinos Farsalinos, cardiologist and research fellow from the Onassis Cardiac Surgery Center, Department of Pharmacology, University of Patras, Greece.
In this special edition of RegWatch hear Dr. Farsalinos confront the most pernicious of the recent retreads of suspicious studies and learn whether he thinks truth in science still has a chance to win-out.
