Ontario’s no-fault auto insurance system should provide auto accident victims with injuries deemed to be minor direct access to essential healthcare services such as physio, chiropractic, and massage therapy. But the system comes with a catch that caps available treatment, leaving many without the care they need to heal fully.
Joining us today to help unpack Ontario’s auto insurance system is Peter Lawriw-Bahan, the director of medical-legal services at Pace Law, an Ontario law firm with over with over 40 years of experience representing auto accident victims in the province.

It's the largest study of its kind in the United States, which shows e-cigarettes are effective in helping smokers to quit—just don't call it "cessation." In many countries, making smoking cessation claims in advertising and marketing is illegal. And, for tobacco control researchers writing funding applications, investigating cessation is a non-starter.
Government health agencies say the evidence to recommend e-cigarettes for smoking cessation is insufficient. But is this truly the case?
Joining us today is the lead author of this ground-breaking study, tobacco control researcher Dr. Matthew Carpenter, professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at the Medical University of South Carolina and co-leader of the cancer control program at Hollings Cancer Center.
Carpenter says, "No matter how we looked at it, those who got the e-cigarette product demonstrated greater abstinence and reduced harm compared to those who didn't."

It's a nightmare for auto accident victims whose injuries refuse to conform to the prescribed structure set by the Ontario provincial government. Known as the Minor Injury Guideline, the MIG defines and categorizes certain types of auto accident injuries as "minor." Streamlining the claims process, constraining healthcare providers, and limiting compensation available to auto accident victims.
Joining us today to talk about the MIG and the struggle to provide healthcare to auto accident victims is Leslie Tempest, registered physiotherapist and owner of ProActive Rehab in Huntsville, Ontario.
Does Ontario’s auto insurance system treat the injured as square pegs?

Make no mistake, the minions of global public health are coming for your vapes. This November, several thousand unaccountable bureaucrats will meet for COP10, the 10th session of the Conference of the Parties to the WHO Framework Convention on Tobacco Control. At this meeting, they plan to institute a worldwide ban on open-system devices, create an effective nicotine cap, and redefine smoke to include vapor.
Reporting from the Global Forum on Nicotine in Warsaw, Poland, RegWatch interviews Martin Cullip, International Fellow at the Taxpayers Protection Alliance and prolific writer on harm reduction policy.

It’s the greatest threat to confront vaping, and likely you may have missed it. Over the past 18 months, a dangerous misinformation campaign has emerged, falsely linking nicotine vapes to fentanyl. The media calls fentanyl-laced nicotine vapes an alarming trend that may be poisoning kids. A possibility that FDA Commissioner Robert Califf recently told Congress was likely only a matter of time.
Joining us today to talk through the details of this threat is Tony Abboud, Executive Director of the Vapor Technology Association.
Could this be another EVALI?

Victims of auto accidents in the province of Ontario are unprepared for the tangled web of regulations that often lead to an overwhelming struggle to secure essential healthcare for their recovery. Each year auto insurance companies spend more money fighting claims and disputing treatment than it spends on healthcare delivery.
Joining us today to discuss the challenges facing victims of auto accidents is Rhona DesRoches from FAIR, the Fair Association of Victims for Accident Insurance Reform. FAIR is a grassroots non-profit organization that advocates on behalf of victims who have been injured in a motor vehicle accident and have struggled to deal with the auto insurance system in Ontario
Are accident victims more traumatized by the system than the accident itself?

While the FDA didn’t necessarily create the moral panic over teen vaping, the agency appears to have stoked the fire, doing very little to stop it. There may be no excuses for the FDA’s handling of nicotine vaping products, but regulating in an environment prone to moral panics isn’t easy.
In this episode of RegWatch, Dr. Cheryl K. Olson, health and behavior researcher and behavior science advisor at McKinney Regulatory Science Advisors, discusses FDA’s struggle to follow the science and the parallels she sees between the moral panic over teen vaping and the long-simmering moral panic over violent video games.
Is there reason to be optimistic about FDA regulation?
